Comprehensive Plan

Let’s examine each of these components:

prayer 1. Fervent Prayer. EHC/Canada is mobilizing thousands of believers to pray for Canada. In preparation for this emphasis we published the Prayer Map of Canada, a resource now in use nationwide. We know that God works deeply and powerfully in human hearts and in life situations as people pray. Every MISSION 33 outreach in a specific area will be accompanied by strategic prayer involving local believers, EHC’s national prayer network and EHC’s international prayer network. People worldwide will be praying specifically for Canadians to receive and believe the Gospel message.

prayer 2. Dynamic Website. The website for this important outreach—www.mission33.ca—fulfills several key purposes. It introduces the MISSION 33 strategy, presents opportunities for participation, and provides helpful resources to enhance the effectiveness of the campaign. The site is dynamic, with the constant addition of up-todate reports, announcements and new resources.

prayer 3. Creative Literature. In this high-tech, complex world of ours, nothing has proven more effective than the low-tech simplicity of the printed page. No other means is more reliable in presenting a clear message of the Gospel to people in every home within a geographically defined area.

We’re calling MISSION 33 “A Campaign of Hope” and we’re basing our outreach on the theme, Finding the Hope. The initial Finding the Hope packet includes a special carrier envelope, an introductory note, the Finding the Hope gospel booklet, and a response form and envelope which enquirers can use to request a free follow-up booklet.

The essential means of delivering the Gospel message in this home-to-home outreach is via the postal service. Communicating by mail is direct and personal, and it is the only way we can be certain of reaching every home nationwide.

prayer 4. Multi-faceted Follow Up. Just as the MISSION 33 evangelistic materials will be varied, so will be the follow-up methods. All of the campaign literature will provide response options online at www.findingthehope.com and via mail. Those who respond will receive:

  • A letter of encouragement and a 7 Days With Jesus booklet with information about knowing Christ and following Him.
  • Information to assist enquirers and new believers in making contact with a local congregation where they can find biblical teaching and Christian friends.
  • Information about resources for spiritual growth and development.

All campaign materials—from initial contact to final phase follow-up—will have a distinctive design, thus strengthening the overall effectiveness of communications. Local and regional participation will help to maximize the impact.

prayer 5. Strategic Partnership. In recent months, we have witnessed increasing expressions of concern for evangelism in Canada. Many people have called or written to say that this is their #1 prayer request. Many have commented that they now consider Canada as much a mission field as many of the places overseas where EHC workers are working so diligently. A crucial part of the MISSION 33 plan is to engage concerned Christians as strategic ministry partners.

prayer 6. Generous Funding. MISSION 33 will require substantial funding, although the actual cost per home is surprisingly low. For only 50¢ per home we can cover the expense of design, development, printing, mailing services and follow-up. With approximately 12 million homes from coast to coast, every residence in Canada can be reached for about $6 million. The strategy, of course, can be rolled out gradually, but our hope and prayer is to reach as many as possible as quickly as possible with the Good News of eternal life in Jesus Christ. Generous funding from many sources is essential to making this happen.
